The US Constitution establishes two very important SOCIALIST (yes, I said that) principles that Americans believe in. All Americans - even right-wingers - adhere passionately to at least a few socialist principles, just as the Founding Socialist Fathers laid out.
Socialism focuses on equality, so the two socialist principles are:
One person, one vote; and
Equality before the law
It is easy to imagine what the capitalist or free market versions of these principles would be:
"I buy all the votes I can afford," and
"I purchase whatever judicial outcomes I need."
But if we were to ever see such innovations, we would *not* be extolling the virtues of the capitalist system. We would be denouncing corruption. Rightly so.
Capitalism can only flourish when it rests on a sound socialist foundation. Without socialism, the beautiful flower that is the free market withers and dies.
So right wingers - you aren't pure, and you aren't as anti-socialist as you think.
We are *ALL* socialists.
Does that mean that socialism should take over and spread everywhere? Of course not. Do you build the foundation of a building up to the roof? The foundation stops at ground level - above that is something else.
Neither thrives without the other.

@eladar saidWe have socialist, equal ownership of our government. Hence the concept of one person, one vote. We all own it together - equally.
Redefing the meaning of the words in the Constitution is very important for liberals. If the words are not redefined, they cannot achieve their goals.
We don't give more say/votes to landowners or rich people or 'aristocrats' or the educated elites. Everybody has the SAME power.
No redefinition of words - it's always been that way, from the beginning. America is an outrageously socialist nation.
@spruce112358 saidWe have the socialism put in place and seen in the first one hundred years of this country's existence?

@spruce112358 saidThis post deserves the close attention of every reader, no matter where he directs his vote. This is the real America, not those bought-and-paid-for teams called political parties.

It's MyCountry, not MyFootballTeam. We're all part of MyCountry.

@metal-brain saidGood technical point, although largely corrected by 1828. We can add in minorities and women who didn't vote until much later. And many 'conservatives' thought all such moves were socialist nonsense, I'm sure. How can 'vile commoners' overrule the dictates of 'their betters'? Harumph.
This country was founded on landowners only being able to vote.

It took time to move from political inequality to equality among all human beings.
