We Americans have some history many would like to forget, but Germany was not the first country to have a eugenics movement.

There was even a film that promoted forced sterilization called "Tomorrow's Children".
At what point is a policy considered eugenics? Some states do not allow marriage between cousins. Could that be considered eugenics? What if someone had a serious hereditary disease and had children knowing they would likely give that bad gene to their children? Is that ethical?
If someday gene therapy could cure hereditary diseases, should gene screening be mandatory for ethical reasons?

Here is a good article called "Go ahead, kiss your cousin". It uses the inbred Rothschild family as an example with a family tree. It gives insight into why the inbreeding started in this wealthy banking family. It also shows which states don't allow marriage between cousins and a world map of countries that do it as well.

I learned a lot from it.

Yes I'm sure you have, but who's going to raise them? Why would a severly retarded person be allowed to have children? The idea is insane.
Who would raise them is a different issue. What if only one parent is retarded?
I'm not promoting the procreation of retarded people, I'm just saying retardation does not necessarily mean there is anything wrong with the gene pool. It is often a developmental problem.

She wasn't retarded because of her genes. Some women drink while they are pregnant and that may be why she was born that way. You could make the argument that she may carry a gene of alcoholism but that is another issue.

The shameful history of forced sterilization is shocking to anyone with a conscience (that wouldn't include you). Oddly enough, right wingers who scream about the excessive reach of government when it raises rich people's taxes don't seem to have a problem with the State determining who is too much of a "tard" to have children. Odd.
