What will it be like? Will Liberals and Conservatives still be locked in this heated battle? Will a legitimate 3rd political party emerge? Will America still be a world power? Any thoughts?

    To your last question.
    Estimated GDP in 2050.
    China $58T
    India $44T
    US $34T
    T = trillion
That's only 32 years in future.
US might not even exist anymore.
Fractured into 2 or more virtual countries.
Division is already clear to see today.

Oh !! And the wall, if it is ever built will be a tourist attraction visited by Chinese and Indians.
A relic and a monument to a misguided ideology.

Groups certainly evolve and names like liberals and conservatives certain will change but I don't think America is unique in this way. There will always be group(s) that want the government to expand and take immediate action to correct perceived injustices. These people will be more likely to force individuals to redistribute income and rights and to pay for perceived injustices. There will be other groups that will be more reluctant to take from one group and give to others.
They will want individuals to take more responsibility for their decisions and their plight and will be more reluctant to bail people out for their poor life choices. They also will likely see the flip side of those who push new agendas.

I don't see us lasting for very much longer if we can't figure out how to start talking to and with each other, regardless of affiliations otherwise.
The aim is for us to not only be divided, but stringently and ardently divided to the point of irreconcilable differences.
    Whoa.
If that's what and where it's headed, isn't it time we drop the red v. blue and do what is right?
Not the not-left right and not the left; just right, just true.
Screw those guys: they're gleefully and gainfully urging us along, so just forget them and the arguments they're aching to get us into.
They're going to do whatever the want anyway.

CA and HI secede from the union, form an independent Pacific Trading Block with each other and the Asian Tigers.

The Bible Belt is raptured and never heard from again. No one notices that the Gulf of Mexico once did not start at the M-D line.

AK is sold back to Russia for 2 cts. per sq. mi. Gold is promptly re-discovered in huge, easily-accessible quantities and mined there. The Russians buy Canada, pay in cash. The USA responds by imposing a tariff on maple syrup.

Volkswagen attempts (for the fifteenth time) to re-introduce 'clean' tar-sand engines to the American automobile market, but without success against the conglomerate Ford-GM monopoly on tar-sand engines.

President Donald Trump VI completely abolishes taxes on the rich (citing culmination of the tradition begun by his forbears in office) and grants posthumous 5th amendment status (non-self-incrimination) to any pornostar, or ex-pornostar, or possible pornostar, who ever had sex, or may possibly have had sex, or may yet possibly have sex, with any sitting or previous president.

The price of gasoline breaches 100 USD per quart (the USA has still not gone metric), and Vice President Bin Wahab Al Saud invokes treaty clauses going back to Trump The Magnimous effectively transferring quadrillions of petro-export-dollars from the U.S protectorate of New Saudi Arabia, via secret Swiss bank accounts, to 666 Fifth Ave NY (The Ministry of Truth).

America will be the most powerful country as long as China isn't a democracy. America's power comes from its massive economy and cultural influence. With how closed Chinese society is, they have no cultural influence over the rest of the world. Even if their economy is larger than America's they still won't match its influence.

100 years ago, communism had only just taken hold in its first country. Who knows what the future holds.

You will always have the terms "conservative" and "liberal". Just know that their description will be as different as they are from 100 years prior.

Politicians rely on the party divide in order to divide and conquer. That way neither party claims accountability for anything, rather, they just blame the other party for everything and call it a day as their loyal partisan shills go along with it.

So if the system is not broke, why fix it?

Granted, as hard as it may seem now, the system will be much more corrupt than it is now and the country will be much less free than it is now. This is due to the inability of the checks and balances to snuff out the wide spread corruption we see today.

The wall will go up just as soon as they wish to keep Americans inside, much like the former USSR.
