Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has vowed a "disproportionate" response to rocket attacks on Israel from Gaza.

He was speaking soon after at least two rockets hit southern Israel. Later three Israelis were injured in a mortar barrage by Palestinian militants.

Two weeks ago, Israel and Hamas - which controls Gaza - declared separate truces ending the three-week conflict.

Palestinian Authority and Hamas officials are gathering in Cairo for talks aimed at boosting the ceasefire.

An adviser to Ismail Haniya, who heads the Hamas government in Gaza, told AFP news agency the militant group was waiting for Israel's response to a truce offer, transmitted by Egypt, adding that things were "moving in a positive direction".

The Egyptians have been leading efforts to broker a permanent ceasefire by holding separate talks with officials from Israel and Hamas.

But Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas told journalists in Cairo that talks were impossible with anyone who rejected the supremacy of the Palestine Liberation Organisation, in an apparent reference to Hamas's leadership.

He also accused Hamas of putting Palestinian lives at risk.

"They... have taken risks with the blood of Palestinians, with their fate, and dreams and aspirations for an independent Palestinian state," he said, quoted by AFP.

So, they keep firing rockets, uh?

Ok, so it is clear that Hamas cares nothing about the Palestinians nor a Palestinian State, and they (a) are nutcases, and/or (b) benefit more from war than from peace. Same as the dog Yasir Arafat (may he be in hell raped by gorillas).

I say let's throw an ultimatum: Either Palestinians wipe off the map Hamas and any other group that is hurting them by attacking Israel... or for crying out loud let's unleash that disproportionate response.

In any case, the blood of the innocent shall stain the hands of the (so called) pro-palestinians.

"Pro-Palestinian" does not imply "pro-Hamas".

No it won't. The Prophylactic Press will be sure to cover for the Usual Suspects and make sure the blood stains someone elses hands.

It's how Swedes are called here in Finland. In an affectionate manner, of course 🙂

I guess that would be a rude version of "ruotsalainen".

Yes, anti-Israel.
No, not pro-terrorism - anti-terrorism, and that's my whole point.

I'm all anti-terrorism. When innocent people fears to die, then they live in terror. The threatening part is terrorists. Ask the people of Gaza, if they fear more retaliation and death from Israel? Their answer will certainly be Yes.

When being anti-Israel, you are not neccesarily pro-Hamas, certanly not when you are anti-terrorism.

Don't call me pro-terrorism, if so you haven't read my postings. Id don't think a conflict can be resolved with violence. Israel has not gained anything for 60 years, what would they win by killing innocent people? Nothing, I would say, nothing but anger back towards themselves, bringing more fuel to the Hamas. Not what anyone wants who wants peace.

How many here want terrorism against innocent people of Palestine? You I call pro-terrorists, or terrorist friends.
How many want to have peace in this area? You I call anti-terrorists, or peace friends.

(Ruotsalainen is Finnish for Swedes, nothing pejorative there. Suomalainen is what they call themselves. Finnish people are well respected in Sweden.
And further - 'Predictable', moi? Well, I don't change my views only because someone tells me to. 'Reliable' is better word. :-)

Michael Totten has provided a transcript on his blog of a talk given by journalist Khaled Abu Toameh in Israel. A good read for this thread. Here's Totten's lead in ...

A Minority Report from the West Bank and Gaza

Khaled Abu Toameh is not your typical Palestinian journalist. He began his career at one of Yasser Arafat’s newspapers and today he writes for the Jerusalem Post. He has produced video for European TV stations, and even blogged for a while at Commentary Magazine in New York. It’s impossible to cram Toameh into a convenient ideological box, though that doesn't stop some people from trying.

I met him briefly a few weeks ago on my trip to Israel sponsored by the American Jewish Committee when he gave a talk to me and my colleagues and answered some questions at the end. I’m reproducing the entire transcript here because I think he deserves a full hearing.

Hamas, Fatah, Americans, Israelis, Europeans, Arab governments, American foreign correspondents – just about everybody involved in any way with the conflict comes under some well-deserved fire. There's something here for just about everybody to like and dislike, and I’m publishing what he said without quote-shopping or cherry-picking his words for convenience.
