President Joe Biden has a history of spreading misinformation about the coronavirus that spans years, making grandiose claims that vaccinated Americans would not contract the illness or spread the virus. It is a great irony, given that he has contracted the virus, and his wife, Jill Biden, tested positive for it for the second time on Monday. Both of them are vaccinated and boosted.

Biden made a false statement. Agreed.
But he's an old geezer who probably just misspoke. Vaccines help the body fight off infection and can reduce the rate of transmission as a result. No one, not Democrats, or even the most staunch defenders of vaccines believe or promote the idea that you "won't get infected" if you have a Covid shot.
This is not a "lie" it's a misstatement from a geriatric.

All I'm saying is I don't think Biden intended to lie. He probably just got the details of how Covid vaccines work wrong. Even if people were mislead by the claim, vaccines are still safe.
You bring up "manslaughter". Should Trump be charged with that since he admitted to deliberately lying about the severity of Covid, which could've caused people to not get vaccinated and die from it?

vaccines are still safe.
The efficacy of the clotshot is still unclear, Sleepies comment is black and white, it cannot be construed to mean anything else.

True, except for the first few months when it was the original strain that was circulating, vaccination was never that much protection against infection, but this is apples and oranges. The vaccine was *some* protection against infection when Delta was circulating; now the protection against infection is down to almost zero (though it probably helps a bit to lessen the severity).

But that's because it's a very different variant. It's mutated to the point where the vaccines haven't caught up and also to the point where it's hardly a big deal for most people. I had (at least) my second case a few weeks ago. This time it was more like a mild flu than the medium cold that it was in June, 2022. I do credit the vaccine for making my first case so mild and that this one was a little worse was probably partly due to the fact that I've never gotten another vax dose after my 3rd dose in November, 2021.
But, of course, it's hardly anything to get worked up over, and certainly nothing to live your life around. When I get my flu shot in a few weeks, I'll probably forego the covid booster since I just had covid, but if I don't get covid again before Fall, 2024, I'll certainly consider getting a booster then.
Basically, it's now another endemic cold/flu variant and should be treated as such. You want to mask up? Go ahead! I'll never criticize anyone for not wanting to get sick. But mandates at this point are insane.
