Showing that the shooting was motivated by race would be difficult. So far there's no stigma of police brutality toward Asians. That doesn't mean it doesn't exist, but records of anti-Asian violence from police remain unknown to the public.

If a case can be built that police have a history of abuse toward Asians (and it's made known to the general public) that would be the first step.

Every time I read one of these stories, I can think of only 2 things.

1. Police officers are simply too trigger happy, they need to be more careful before using lethal force.

2. I wouldn't want to be a police officer

If you have to cite an event from 2 centuries ago you've proven my point. You don't have a case that racism toward Asians from police is a problem that requires a movement like BLM.

That happened over ten years ago.

Blacks are getting killed every year. If Floyd had been Asian people would have been like "Oh wow an Asian was killed. It's been over ten years since the last time that happened".

That's not accurate. The media will reference *significant* cases of police brutality toward blacks from over ten years ago, such as the Rodney King beating. They don't cite random instances unless it ties into current events, which sadly, involves many records of blacks being assaulted by cops.

This story from ten years ago doesn't fit that mold, especially when you can only cite another similar event that happened two centuries ago.
