The weight of scientific evidence says that the window for actually doing something that will avert catastrophic climate change is narrow. Republicans have made absolutely no proposals to address this issue while AOC and others have at least unveiled a plan to meet this challenge. IF you are unhappy with the details of that plan, it would behoove you and other critics to reveal your own ideas on how to deal with climate change.

The 12 year figure came from UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and naturally it doesn't say the world is going to end if we do nothing. Rather:
The world’s leading climate scientists have warned there is only a dozen years for global warming to be kept to a maximum of 1.5C, beyond which even half a degree will significantly worsen the risks of drought, floods, extreme heat and poverty for hundreds of millions of people.
