"Austria’s lockdown began Monday and will last for at most 20 days, with a nationwide vaccine mandate taking effect Feb. 1, Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg said Friday. The Netherlands launched a partial lockdown on Saturday as well, forcing select businesses to shut early and preventing the public from attending sporting events for three weeks, Reuters reported."

What exactly is your end game? A vaccine? We have that. Treatments? We have those. Elimination? Never going to happen. What exactly are these countries waiting for before stopping this lockdown strategy?

Personally, I have an appointment to get my booster tomorrow. I'm basically ignoring COVID anyway (I wear masks when required or to be polite if I see it's expected), but once I'm boosted, I'll be supremely not worried about it.

Why are you going to get a booster shot?

The dominant variant now is the delta variant and the gene vaccines are ineffective against the delta. It has resistance to the delta variant in much the same way bacteria evolved resistance against antibiotics.

Why are you taking advice from known liars who are corrupt tools of big pharma? Have you lost all common sense? Let me guess, you are getting conflicting information and don't know who to trust so you keep relying on your government health officials for the truth when you know darn well they are the biggest liars you know of. They are the same liars who told you the gene vaccines provided better immunity than natural immunity and it was a lie. FOIA requests prove the CDC has never recorded a single person with natural immunity spreading the SARS2 virus. That means it was a lie all along.

Listen to known liars. What could possibly go wrong?
Dude, wake up. Our government is corrupted by big pharma. You cannot trust them.

edit: The basis for lock downs was to prevent asymptomatic people from spreading the virus. Since vaccinated people like you can be asymptomatic carriers of the virus and give it to others it makes just as much sense to lock down vaccinated people as the unvaccinated people.

It actually makes sense if you accept the original lock downs were not a huge mistake. The problem is that everyone will get the virus eventually anyway. That means lock downs are only delaying the inevitable. Since there is little danger of hospitals being overwhelmed by covid patients lock downs don't make much sense. They ruin the economy and the only reason for them is to scare people into submission to the state and the gene vaccines.

Much higher vaccination rates, maybe? That's what Austria is apparently aiming for in its decision to make the vaccine compulsory (on pain of a substantial fine) in a few weeks' time.

Dude, not sure if you know this, but people still take antibiotics against bacterial infections and, by and large, they still work - after over a century of use. If the vaccines only work against COVID for another century, I'll be okay with that.

===Since vaccinated people like you can be asymptomatic carriers of the virus ===

I'm not worried about being an asymptomatic carrier. In fact, given that the people are around me are either fully vaxxed or barely vulnerable, it means no less or more to me that I'm an asymptomatic COVID carrier than I'd worry about being an asymptomatic carrier of rinovirus.

Given that vaccine effectiveness almost certainly wanes after a few months, I'm not sure how they're going to count vaccination rates. Is someone vaccinated last January fully vaccinated and so they're going to lock down to make sure the person infected 6 weeks ago gets vaccinated?

Seems pretty illogical to me.

The famous quote reverberating around the world:

Germany's health minister has issued his starkest warning yet on the importance of getting vaccinated.

"By the end of this winter everyone in Germany will either be vaccinated, recovered or dead," Jens Spahn told a news conference in Berlin on Monday.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-59378548

This is the best anti-COVID-restriction argument I've ever heard. It's a pro-vax argument, of course, which I support. But it's an anti-restriction argument. If everyone's going to get it anyway, why bother locking down?

The lockdowns are intended to prevent the health care system from being overwhelmed.

If the unvaccinated just stay at home when they become infected and die at home, then what do I care ?
If anything, I can leave my mask at home.

Maybe getting picky here.......
But the statement is not entirely accurate.
There will still be people out there who have not been vaccinated, not been infected and not dead (at least not brain dead).

But yes. The statement was designed for effect.

That is because there are different antibiotics that can be prescribed when one of them is ineffective. You don't have a different gene vaccine for the Delta variant. They are working on it though and why do you think that is? They know the gene vaccines we have now do not work, but lying to you and claiming they do will get you to take another for big pharma profits.

Pushing vaccines people don't need has already happened. My brother had covid and they pushed the vaccine on him anyway. All based on CDC lies. Why do you trust proven liars? This is a fact, not a conspiracy theory. Know the difference.

You will be taking booster shots for the rest of your life.
Nothing is more profitable than endless vaccines forever.
It is a scam.

So what? I take a flu shot every year. It's not a big deal. If I have to take a COVID shot also every year, so what? They're already working on combining the 2 into one shot anyway.

You don't need the flu shot either. It is mostly ineffective as the next dominant flu variant is a guessing game and that was before the pandemic. Now the flu is so rare it is almost certain you took that flu shot for nothing.

Are you always this easily scammed?
You need to work on your critical thinking skills. I didn't get this information from conspiracy theory websites. Look into it yourself.

How many pro-COVID threads do you intend to make?

Austria has had a sharp jump in cases and deaths in recent weeks so they are taking measures to reduce the spread of a deadly disease. Most sane people regard that as utterly reasonable.
