That level of political cynicism has consequencies. The utter hypocrisy of it should turn your stomach, no matter which way you vote.
But, because you think it is acceptable has two effects:
- everyone knows that you can’t be trusted (you will accept anything to gain and remain in power).
- everyone knows that you consider everything is fair game in politics (so people will build in security measures to stop you being able to go too far).
And that, my little trailer-park buddy, is a circle of escalating nastiness that countries try to avoid... because it breaks them.
