Disgusting. I don't care about how good the message this guy was trying to send is, this is conscious animal torture.

I'm not supporting this deed, indeed, I find it utterly abhorent, however, there is an intersting perspective here, including by the artist himself :

For those that can't be bothered to read it, the key point is that Nativity (the dog) has become a strong symbol, and continues to speak even in death about the state of animal welfare in a country where almost none exists.

As I said, interesting, but not a defence against what Palynka rightly describes as "conscious animal torture".

What's your point? In some cultures, dogs are eaten for food. In Michael Vick's backyard, they serve as gladiatorial fodder. You should be more concerned with the millions of babies each year who are snatched untimely from their mother's womb, carved up into tiny cadaver parts or have their brains sucked out, ground up and synthesized into anti-Alzheimer's drugs.

Ultimately, death is a necessary deed, despite how fearful we are of what form it comes.

The post that was quoted here has been removed
I saw it on a Portuguese newspaper, but this was the only English link I've found.

The same starving dog can survive for months or even years. I've seen homeless dogs survive several winters. This one died in less two days.

And then lets take that logical argument further. How many dogs would it be acceptable to starve to death on galleries to prove the same point? Apparently this one didn't have that much of an impact. Perhaps a hundred dogs would have much more impact and it would still be a small fraction of starving dogs on the street. Wouldn't the same argument invoked by him apply?

This is ridiculous. Anyone who's response to an animal being tortured ro death is, "It's horrib;e, BUT", or "How inhumane, HOWEVER" is utterly devoid of conscience.
If ever there were a black & white issue, this is it. Kinda like 9/11, you know? When some intellectuals said, "yes it's tragic and awful what those Muzzes did, BUT....(insert your choice of bull feces to condone criminal acts here)."

So according to some of more morally braindead here the murder of a tortured and starving dog = artistic expression?

Too much television, i'm almost afraid to ask what you do for a living.

You guys are nutcases, just like the artist.

lol...you cherry-pick one word from my post, and decide I am "utterly devoid of concience" as a result of that one word?

I'll bet you didn't even read the article did you...?
