Security ???????
Is it just me or does it seem to be easy to gain access to anywhere these days. Two major incidents in the UK in the last two days regarding security. A man walks in to Windsor Castle pretending to be a police officer and two guys throwing condoms full of purple powder in the Houses Of Parliament. I might be crazy but how difficult is it to check these people ????? 😕😕😕 In a world constantly under threat from terrorism surely two of the most likely targets for these freaks would be the Prime Minister and the royal family. What kind of security procedures are we employing...??? no wonder everyone thinks the west is soft.

He was obviously about to try something as he was disguised as a police officer (a criminal offence in itself), but he was in a public area at the time he was apprehended.
The disgraceful thing about the purple flour case (given that I would ordinarily be pleased to hear that Blair had cke ingredients thrown at him), is that these men were invited into the VIP gallery by a peer, Baroness Golding (who is she anyway?).
Originally posted by VargI understood that these Fathers4Justice guys had got tickets to be Baroness Golding's guests in a raffle! She probably didn't know who they were, but it looks like these passes get you beyond the public visitors area, which is screened, onto a different gallery.

If I remember rightly (I've only been in the Commons once), the regular visitors gallery, where plebby visitors go (ie where you can go to if you come in from the street), is at the back. This is the area which is now screened. There are other galleries along the side, where guests go, which aren't screened.
Also, I didn't think the Windsor Castle guy was dressed as a plod - I thought he had just flashed a warrant card at the entrance to get in for free. I agree he hadn't actually breached any security.

I remember hearing of an incedent several years ago, where Queen Elizabeth awoke in the middle of the night with a man sitting next to her on bed (and it wasn't Prince Phillip either). He sat there calmly talking with her until she was able to ring for help.

Somehow things seemed more innocent then.
But then, I was only about 8 years old...
