This thread is devoted to discussing Obama as a potential President of the USA. I'd like to discuss his platform, scandals, experience or lack thereof, etc with respect to his suitability to be President.

If you want a clear debate topic with two defined opposite positions - would Obama make a good President? Is anyone else better who is or might be running?

The man is hopelessly underqualified to be the next President. He should move on and open a bagel shop somehere.

What further qualifications would he need?

that is not a requirement to be president. take bush for example and tell me if Obama is less qualified.

as a inhabitant of this planet, I would be comfortable(-ish) with an orangutan in the White House after experiencing bush

Bush was a Governor for the state of Texas. Obama has been a Senator for about 3 years with none of the responsibilities a Governor has. Perhaps Obama could run some third rate place like Romania instead.

wow, that was sweet. your argument was so solid that you had to involve my country in it. of course it is not as if i expect decency, fair-play and intelligence from a redneck like you but still.
i don't agree those who call americans stupid and bigots because they judge a whole people by some specimen like you.

I will back Obama with time and money. I haven't been as supportive of a candidate in decades. If he wins, he'll be embraced overwhelmingly throughout the world.

Obama has all the charisma of a toasted sandwich. Although I have to admit he is a snappy dresser (but then he probably pays his in-house factotum to dress him). But for another point of view, check out this description of the guy: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/columnists/tim_hames/article1368847.ece

Abraham Lincoln lost his only run for the US Senate and his only qualifications was that he had served 4 terms in the Illinois state legislature. He was a bit more of a competent President than President DimWit.

So you want someone who's actually been in charge of running a region of land. That makes sense. That leaves Hillary out too, although she's at least been around quite a lot of that kind of position (hmm...someone make a joke here...it's so obviously begging for it but nothing springs to mind).

Who does that leave? Guiliani? He's by far the strongest Republican candidate I can think of. Is he running?

well, to adopt your manner of argumentation, you started it 😛

bush doesn't have any experience, or better said, any intelligence. that is my oppinion. decent discussion would have compelled you to argue that bush is indeed intelligent and present proof. or call me an idiot. but not ignore my oppinion and say some totally unrelated point like my country is third rate.(which is true, we didn't have the benefit of taking land from native americans or bringing slaves from africa unlike SOME, and all throughout history we were smacked by 6 different empires, unlike SOME)

when, in all his terms did bush do a decent thing thanks this his experience? did experience as governor told him to attack iraq?

Righto Dim, perhaps Obama should execute dozens of people like Shrub did, before he becomes president.

(PS - then perhaps he can send 3,000+ troops to their death for oil and riches for dodgy companies like Shrub did, too?)
