ever since deciding to switch to the GOP im having a hard time adjusting to the good life.

the first thing i thought id establish was a firm stance on an issue. Thread 100137 but then one of the top republicans on here reminded me that we dont pick sides on issues, just attack others. so a bunch of people responding to my post was rather embarrassing 😳

next thing, a big corporation hasnt befriended me yet. do i have to do something first? is there like an NFL draft type thing for which one we get? which has the best pircs.. easiest to please?? i know this is one of the biggest reasons to enlist in the GOP, so i want to get it right. i dont want just any billion dollar corporation (cough: google) to be my daddy.. i need someone that can really please me and my family.

finally me and dsr had a little uplifting talk, and im glad i made my choice.

The sad truth is that the vast majority of Republican voters in the United States are ordinary working people that vote against their own economic interests, or social interests, or security interests because they've bought into cheap rhetoric and smear campaigns and because they see abortion as absolutely central to every political race from county assessor to President of the USA.

If abortion doesn't drive them, they fear loss of their arsenal and hunting or precision paper punching instruments: most Democrats chant a gun control mantra that is often embarrassing to anyone that's ever sighted in a rifle or killed a bird. Consequently the National Rifle Association owns a lot of stock in the Republican party.

Or, they buy into the lower my taxes rhetoric without ever taking two minutes to observe that the company that just laid off their brother got a tax break for taking their jobs to Puerto Rico. They complain about every pothole in the road, and blame the tax and spend lib'rals for robbing them when the city or county or state tried to pour a little asphalt into the hole. Along comes a politician that promises to cut taxes but then cannot because our security depends upon sending a few more helicopters into Pakistan.

Nice stereotypes. How do you feel about the alternative one... ...the Democrat voters who've realized that by voting Democrat they can vote themselves an ever increasing welfare check.

There's no particular virtue in voting specifically for your own self interests at the expense of what's good for the nation.

Relative to the cost of living, the value of welfare checks have been in steady decline for decades.

Most that receive such assistance do not vote.

How is unending war in the best interests of the country. Take away the flimsy and superficial patriotism, and the "best interest of the country" that provokes truck drivers, walmart employees, retired soldiers, and many others to vote against their own economic interests utterly lacks a foundation.

You are correct that yours is a stereotype, and it is without grounding in reality.

Clearly it's because they're too stupid to know what's good for them.

Really the only thing to do is to take away the voting rights of anyone dumb enough to vote for the Republicans. You'd be doing them a favor, right? Once we get to the point that 100% of the voters are voting Democrat, then and only then will we have achieved the democratic goals you seem to be seeking....

You might be right, but I wouldn't say that about voters no matter how easily they fall prey to propaganda.

I live on the buckle of the bible belt--and there are no true republicans here.
