Please see that he does not have the power to forgive the tuition debt. The court was clear, no authority. He is brazenly defying, and brags about it. "SCOTUS won't stop me." Changed his method, yes, but the same legal principles that make it unconstitutional sti ...[text shortened]... he turns it all into pure politics and rails agains the high court and rallies to stack the court.

Who do you think it is coming up with new technologies? NASA went 50 years running the same non reusable rockets and Musk comes along and says, lets build a booster that can land so we can reuse them making space flight a lot cheaper.
Or a young Tesla inventing the rotating magnetic field, the basis for most motors now, three phase motors or pushing for alternating current rather than DC which his boss Edison tried to make the standard. Tesla realized you could use AC transformers to up the voltage to thousands of volts to make electric transmission more efficient.
So it is folks like that, highly educated who makes for the next generation of scientists and engineers. If they can't afford to finish college, you would say, get a fukking job at McDonalds and quit bitching. Another mind lost when we REALLY need the best minds we can find. You don't see that happening in China, they are supported from day one.

So, your logic is that people who work for other people, who have never been to college and not likely to ever save up a few million to retire** on, should pay for the education of college grads, who will make a lot of money and retire at 50?

The government is made up a tremendous amount of people and agencies who research and make the best decisions, approved by Congress, to do these things.
