You do know that there wasn’t a global oil supply issue when trump was potus joe, I mean can you remember that far back when there was a global glut of oil due to the global economic activity slowdown due to the pandemic.

I’m not saying he’s doing a great job no but I’m also not gonna pretend that any one man or nation, not even the all powerful US can do more than tinker around the edges of global economic trends and fluctuations especially when it comes to global demand items like oil and grain. Too many players with too many disparate motivations, alliances and geopolitical realities Joe. If your waiting for a potus that can run the world you’ll need to hunker down because you have a long wait ahead of you.

I just rewatched Trump’s infamous ‘inject disinfectant’ performance from a 2020 press conference, with Dr. Birx sitting thunderstruck dumbfounded at her boss’s incoherent, rambling, dangerously stupid, NOT sarcastic, word salad. Very little, correct. There's zero evidence that BA5 is worse than omicron. Each variant outcompetes the previous one because it's better at immune escape than the version everyone already had. So cases go up, sure. But more deadly? I haven't seen any evidence at all.

Covid will never ever die down, my sweet summer child (unless we find a cure or sterilizing vaccine, which is unlikely). And as long as they continue to count covid deaths the way they do, they'll probably count half a million a year for the rest of time.

But as an epidemic, it's over. It's another respiratory virus that we have to deal with for all time. You deal with it how you choose. If you want to wear a haz-mat suit for the rest of your like, knock yourself out. I'm gonna live my life and I'll chance it. I had what was likely BA.4 or BA.5 anyway a few weeks ago (I imagine it was BA.5 since actual infections usually precede them figuring out what's going on by a few weeks); as I'm on record having said, it was no BFD. I understand that people who are very old or very weak may want to take precautions and I wish them Godspeed in doing so.

This is just speculation, but I imagine that SARS-COV-2 can mutate and evolve as fast as it can because it was enhanced by gain-of-function research before it escaped from the lab, but that's water under the bridge. Nothing anyone can do about it now. It's here to stay and is part of the world like the other coronaviruses, influenza, RSV, etc.
