thousands more died because he was not chairing COBRA meetings , he should RESIGN

@badradger

It didn't bode well that the man in charge of the response to the greatest public health crisis in 100yrs once hid in a refrigerated lorry live on national tv so as to not face questions from Piers Morgan of all people.

I'm sure the majority of people in most countries blame the leader

Monday morning quarterbacking will become a cottage industry.
In the meantime, we should all be reminded that Sunday isn’t over yet.

Nope. Here in Europe some of our leaders have been acting surprisingly good.

Right - O. Let's all whistle a happy tune, while Trump declares the situation "totally under control" and COVID-19 "a hoax" The Donald is never wrong about anything, is he? Who knows - If you spin it hard enough, you can blame Joe Biden for the virus. 🙄

He was much too busy trying to find a way round the problems caused by Brexit.

Well, not really, I don't think there's any reason to think that the government's response would have been any different had it been him and not Matt Hancock chairing the meetings.

However, there's been a consistent failure to correct mistakes. They did not ensure that stocks of PPE were adequate, which had been eroded due to a decade of austerity - in which time debt has increased. They were slower than they could have been to introduce social distancing. They didn't order sufficient precursor chemicals for viral testing. They seemed to think it would be the 'flu - incidentally the plan for pandemic was based around the 'flu which is why government leaders especially in the US have been saying "It's no worse than the 'flu" - problem is it is. So rather than make contingency plans for worst case scenarios they just sort of bumbled along. This is looking pretty damn unprofessional to me.

It took 6 posts to turn a Boris Johnson thread into a "Orange Bad" thread.

Whoda' thunk!?

Because a minority of leaders are blameless.

For a look at what true leadership looks like just watch any Jacinda Ardern press conference.

Merkel's approval rating has gone up quite dramatically. The administration did a pretty good job responding to the crisis, listening to scientists and health experts for advice and working together with state governments, including the ones governed by rival parties. Imagine that.
