It does not behoove a man to avoid work, lest he become a burden on his fellow man. Therefore, a feudalistic system would better serve British citizens receiving benefits. Under feudalism, the welfare-receiving members of the population would work at least three days out of every week, which would lessen their expense on the public coffer and confer upon them the benefits of fresh air, physical culture and the self esteem that comes from a job well done. Debate.

This pretty much already obtains under the New Deal. Jobseekers' Allowance in Britain, contrary to the impression given here, is not remotely generous - if you're on it long enough, they allot you a hole to dig and then ask you to fill it in around yourself.
