"Bush is scheduled to arrive in Ottawa next week for his first-ever official visit to Canada."
I hadn't realized he hadn't made a visit before.
"At his first international summit since winning re-election Nov. 2, Bush had a taste Friday of the worldwide rage that's resulted from his invasion of Iraq"
And he'll get plenty more in Ottawa I am sure...Show him how you feel Canada! This American supports whatever hell you give him!
ncrosby🙂
We are all aware he hasn't visited us. It is well known that George W. Bush did not like our former PM Jean Chretien because of comments made by his aides and by Canada not completely supporting him in the War in Iraq. In meetings held in the US it was pretty funny to watch Bush's reactions to some of Chretiens comments with the rolling of the eyes and the brushing him off. Very condescending. Like he has a right to be condescending to anybody. However Bush and Martin get along great hence the reason for Bush's visit.
However, you yanks may be interested, I am upset about the firing of a liberal MP who stomped on a Bush doll in a demonstration. The PM booted her unceremoniously from caucus saying that she was not a "team player".
The Liberal Party of Canada are nothing but ass-kissing crooks.
Originally posted by darvlayBeg to disagree: Bush stomping on a Kerry doll would look pretty damn ridiculous, same case with Ms Parrish. If you need to talk and deal with someone about important issues, even someone you disagree with, use a bit of tact eh?

Hmmm ... seems like most of the crooks were left over from the last guy, just now they are being exposed.

Originally posted by darvlayI can't believe that I'm actually about to defend Martin, but he was completely justified in removing her from caucus. I don't know what you do, but if I bet that if you were to purposefully antagonize the President of your biggest customer, you'd either get fired, or if you're your own boss, go out of business pretty quick.

Besides, it's not like she's out of parliament - she's just an independent now:

Nope, there was a reason Martin wasn't dumped.
Seeing the borders re-open will be a good thing since I am an avid red meat eater and am sick of paying high prices for my beef.
Martin did seem to have himself in the same position as Chretien when his aide was overheard by a reporter c alling Bush a "moron" or something along those lines. I guess Martin does not want to commit the sins of old and I guess you can't fault him for that.
Do either of you know what the motivation was for her to publicly protest like that (besides the obvious, of course...). Was anything explicit said by her?
Originally posted by darvlayWell, first, as to the red meat thing. Reports on CBC Radio over the weekend indicated that the markup is coming from meat packers and distributers in Canada. Actually, the farmers are getting almost no money out of this. Nice to know that there's somebody out there screwing both sides, eh?

As for Parrish, while I thought her anti-US ranting was a bit childish, it wasn't that which got her kicked out. It was this:
"Every time he (Martin) gets up and reprimands me, be it ever so gentle, it just feeds it and he looks like he can't control me, which he can't,"
"absolutely no loyalty to this team (LIberal Party). None."
"After what they've (Liberals) put me through and lots of my colleagues, they can all go to hell."
"If he (Martin) loses the next election and he has to resign, I wouldn't shed a tear over it."
THAT is why she got kicked out.
Originally posted by DecanterHmmm, this is definitely grounds for a boot from the party. I wonder why she never resigned herself given her comments?!?

On a slightly different note...
Decants - I was up in Niagara doing wine tours this weekend. It was gorgeous. Stocked up my cabinet for xmas! 😏
