So what? Did anyone else see Tony Blair being interviewed by June Sarpong on T4?
The discussion was on binge-drinking, and Tony was asked "Have you ever drunk more than you could handle?". He responded "Oh, No. Of course not!" with the biggest, cheekiest grin on his face. He might as well of added "Nudge, nudge, wink, wink" at the end.
Politicians have to say certain things, or their careers would end before they have even started. Personally, I would have more faith in a President or Prime Minister that had been on a few benders, or smoked a few joints at college. They're more likely to be in touch with the rest of society...
Originally posted by mmanuelyou're right, politicians have to say certain things to keep their credability and stay in office. But when 25% (please tell me if ths figure is wrong) of people in US jails are there on canabis charges then it strikes me as massivly hypocritical that the president has made that 'mistake' in his own past. Either admit that people make these 'mistakes' and lighten up on them, legalise the damn stuff, or damn yourself along with them. But don't condem others for something you did yourself because you should therefore be able to understand their viewpoint. To do otherwise shows that you're just trying to please certan sectors instead of following your true beliefs, and if he'll do that on one issue then how about all the others?
