After Steven Spielberg withdrew his assistance to the Olympics in protest at China's policy towards Darfur, Mr Bush said he would not be taking a similar stance.
"I view the Olympics as a sporting event," he told the BBC's Matt Frei.
But he added that he would meet Chinese President Hu Jintao and "remind him that he can do more to relieve the suffering in Darfur".

Thank you Mr. Bush!

I thought George Clooney as a newly appointed Ambassador of Peace by the Un had this Dafur situation under control. You mean George, for all his hot air, can't make these people like one another? George should resign his UN appointed position IMMEDIATELY

In fairness, it kind of goes against the founding principle fo the olympic games to use them in the way SS is. The whole idea in greek times, which was later revived in the modern games, was that they were the one place where nations put aside their differences and competed athletically rather than in war.
Like religion, sport and politics should be seperate!
