Calling All Cowards

Debates

Why is it that you don't pick up a rifle and get on the next plane to Iraq? Are you afraid of dying? Afraid to give your life to a cause you don't believe in? Coward.

Once we are called and those troops set foot on that dusty land, we ALL as God-fearing Americans should be supporting them NO MATTER WHAT the cost and NO MATTER WHO dies. And those of you who are able-bodied enough to bear arms, what in the HELL are you still doing here? Eating your Doritos and watching your stories. You fat, useless buggers.

Here is some helpful guidance:

1) Turn off your computer;
2) Head down to local recruitment office and sign up for a 2 year hitch; and
3) Write a last will and testament

What is in it for you? How about the fact that you won't be a cowardly pinko pussy anymore? Can't get any better than that, right? WRONG! Perhaps you may even be lucky enough to take out one of them stanky buggers and save a few lives!

A Hero. That's what they'll call you from now on. 🙂

By far one of the best parodies of knee-jerk jingoism I've read in these forums. Well done, sir!

I have no fear of dying, but I don't feel that throwing my life away to
a disgusting cause is the best use of it. My life it is better served by
preserving it until such time that such a sacrifice is warranted.

Indeed, it is this very 'mentality' (if we can call it that) that the army
relies on: obedience without question, follow the person with more
stripes on his/her sleeve because (by virtue of them), s/he knows
better.

The idea that 'no matter what' and 'who' is incongruous with 'God-
fearing.' One who is God-fearing will ask 'is this right?' and 'would
God want me to support or engage in the slaughter of innocent
civilians?' Of course, one not be 'God-fearing' to be a good American,
and one need not engage God at all to recognize that what America
is doing (and has done) is wrong. It would just seem easier to me
that a person who claims to believe that 'Thou Shalt Not Kill' is the
'WORD of GOD' would, at the same time, pick up a rifle and go shoot
unarmed civilians (or support such shootings).

What is in it for you? How about the fact that you won't be a cowardly pinko *** anymore? Can't get any better than that, right? WRONG! Perhaps you may even be lucky enough to take out one of them stanky buggers and save a few lives!

What is in it for me is the state of my soul. By not supporting these
demonstrably evil actions on the part of the US, by not taking part in
the loss of innocent life, people like you may label me a coward, but
I remain true to the tenets of my belief, that the wanton destruction of
life and property are evil an ought to be avoided.

After all, what use does a 'God-fearing' person have for the title 'Hero'
if s/he is going to be burning in Hell because s/he ignored the explicit
demands of what s/he calls the Word of God?

Obviously you are joking,

But I've always wondered why communists are called cowardly? Aren't they always the one's sticking up for the poor and the savaged?
Wasn't it the communists who used sticks to defeat the Tsaar's army?
Wasn't it the communists who opposed Hitler and suffered in the concentration camps first?
Wasn't it the communists who stood up and went to jail in the US against McCarthy?
Wasn't it the communists who defeated the US in the jungles of Vietnam?
Isn't it the communists in Cuba who, after 40 years of very harsh embargos are still defying the great capitalist imperialism?

Doesn't sound very cowardly to me.

And on another side note, I see nothing negative in the word pussy.

And, of course, in America, if you're afraid to travel, you can always remain in the comfort of your home, eat your Doritos, watch your TV stories, remain a fat, useless bugger and all the while wage war against your fellow citizens while enjoying the protection of the Constitution.

Supporting soldiers does not entail supporting a wrongful war. The most supportive thing I can do is to get those men and women back here with their families and friends and back to the lives the left behind before they leave their lives behind!

There is a difference in being supportive of American soldiers on the field of combat who are honorable and supporting the dishonorable practitioners of torture and abuse.

Looks like recruitment is not going so well for Iraq - as Churchill one said, not the beginning of the end but the end of the beginning.

Who's side should we join when we get there?

You don't say. So it can be either side. Right?

I don't think you will get a lot of takers. I'm too old.

But... I would fight for freedom and liberty against Islamofacists any day.

Patriot and Proud.

Does that make you happy? That the people of Iraq are being blown to hell by your friends and buddies?
