This guy, Senator Josh Hawley, has written an article that is on the cover of the New York Post. He writes about muzzling. But I can't find a single example of it in his article.

He has over 500,000 twitter followers. He has a book that will be published and distributed in the coming weeks. He is frequently featured giving bloviating speeches in the Senate committees on national news broadcasts.

Me? I have 85 twitter followers, no book, no national platform, and no one listens to me. Maybe it's me who's being muzzled.

I don’t know myself, but I think what the publishers (or whomever) are doing to him qualifies as a cancel culture action?
Has there been a pro-con thread on cancel-culture z?

Cancel culture is real and problematic (e.g. Al Franken), but this guy is a sitting US Senator. He ain't been cancelled.

@wildgrass
he is also on of those pushing for the insurrection so he is one of the bad dudes in the senate. He should be impeached.

I think the soon to be published book is at the heart of the crying and hand wringing by this twisted 💩 he gave the insurrection the clenched fists salute on his way into congress on the 6th.

What the F is cancel culture?
Is this another one of those alt-right snowflake fads where they wrap themselves up in victimhood and blame everyone but themselves for the woes nobody else really experiences?

What rock have you been hiding under...I want one! Its when the extreme left uses anything that a person has ever said ( whether it be in jest or whatever) to destroy ones ability to earn a living if said target is not far left enough. They cancel you using big tech. They aren't just canceling right-wingers if that's what you expect. Its the modern day scarlet letter... nothings has really changed since then. So much for progressivism!

The right wing have been cancelling the left wing and progressives for years, especially in America. Remember McCarthyism and the big corporates controlling radio and television content with their advertising revenue clout.
Please don’t bleat now your getting a taste of your own medicine because it’s been democratised by consumer led control.

Ah. So, you are right-wing, someone else is doing something and you’re wrapped up in victimhood.

Got it.

Two words... white privilege.

The sense of entitlement here is nauseating.

If you're white and yet you don't have everything, no, you're not being oppressed.

It doesn't 😀, he is being a whiney child and he is panicking because some are starting to demand his, Ted Cruz's and other senators/representatives expulsion.

So when someone who has considerable influence on a large sector of a population, eg a President of the US, calls for the overthrow of an election result knowing full well that violence could erupt, and some new phenomena called cancel-culture muzzles that person, then cancel-culture can't be all bad.

The triggers on our social media platforms are so sensitive that irresponsible commentary can trigger violence or even civil war.

Freedom is a good thing.
Freedom of speech is a good thing.
Both are worth fighting for.
But once they are achieved, they have to be exercised responsibly.
Anyone can get a drivers license once they pass requirements.
But if you drive irresponsibly, you lose the privilege.
I don't know why so many people don't get that.

Yea don't pretend that cancel culture is specific to the left. You undermine your own argument.

Cancel culture is broadly about intolerance of opposing views, public shaming and ostracism. How about the cancellation of an NFL quarterback when Colin Kaepernick quietly took a knee? When Bill Maher lost his show over conservative backlash? The Dixie Chicks?

Pretending it's a left-wing problem will only make it worse, as then your side will take zero steps to mitigate its creep.
