No one capable of learning how to play chess has ever trusted the media, Ivanhoe.

we can trust each person to unfairly bias reports in favour of their own cultural identity or benefit..

the media is simply a group of people, with the senior executives being most influential.

the truth is somewhere in the middle between all the self interested and extreme prejudices.

(i could happily copy and paste this to many threads through here, but i will not)

I was always proud that in America we have a constitution right to freedom of press. When I was in school, I remember studying that the reason for freedom of the press was to establish a checks and balance system to Keep their government in check by letting the people know what their government is doing behind the scenes plus to inform their citizens of current events.

Now it seems that the media/ press is being used as an entertainment outlet. It also seems to me that the media is being used as a political tool of the government in order to mislead its citizens. The government in America is now wanting to regulate not only the media but also the Internet.

Somehow this is very disturbing to me. I think it should disturb all Americans what the Neo-Conservitives majority Congress is doing to American liberties.

One other thing that disturbs me is that so much money is collected by donations to political campaigns from the citizens yet so much of the funds wind up in the hands of the press/media who is supposed to be one of the Constitutional checks and balances for its citizens. Paid by governmental candidates for political advertising and Television air time.

Somehow this to me seems like a conflict of interest.

Why it took more than 50 years before they coined the term infotainment is one of the biggest conspiracies of them all!
