I thought they taught us not to vote NDP. 😏

Looking into my crystal ball, I see more Wal-Marts and Idols in Canada.
A new wave of Amway distributors.
And so forth.
In five years, after tiring of this nonsense, Canadians will turn Liberal again to avert the latest Constitutional Separatist Crisis, but by then the Liberals will again be run from Quebec.
*yawn*

Mabye if the NDP can manage to sway enough of the uninformed vote they'll help weed out the liberals.
The Liberals have two main advantages over the other parties:

1. Flexibility (aka a talent for sitting on the fence): By being sufficiently vague about an issue, its is possible to later say with a straight face that you meant something entirely different than what a previous statement may have implied. This tactic allows politicians to backtrack, change their mind, take credit for other people's ideas, and wriggle out of tight places. The Liberals are typically excellent politicians.

2. Toronto.

They are going to lose (according to most predictions) this time because:

1. They were caught with their hands in the cookie jar (i.e., adscam, income trusts) and are making some huge political blunders (they apparently ran a negative ad which implied something sinister about the Conservatives' plan to increase the military presence in western Canada, but I haven't seen it).

2. Toronto is not the centre of the universe.

Do you think that the next separatist crisis is more than five years away? It looks like the BQ is going to end up with 2/3 or more of the seats from Quebec.

While I don't support The NDP, I'm encouraging everybody to vote for somebody other than Liberals, because under Canadian Law each vote is worth a dollar amout to the parties. for e.g: If the Liberals get 1 million votes they could get 1 million dollars. I'm espescially(sp.) encouraging people to vote the Green party if they don't want to vote Conservative. Then you can at least put your taxmoney to good use.

p.s As for the seperation issue, I believe Harper and Duceppe are more reasonable, and might fix this problem. Remember Harper created the Clarity act(if you don't know what that is look it up).

I agree. I know people who are actually going to vote Green party just beause the other options suck, or at least in there opinion. Where does it state they get a dollar a vote? Never heard that before. Does anyone even really care about Quebec anymore? I would hate to see the country split but it already feels like they're seperate anyway.

Actually, it is $0.4375 per quarter, which works out to $1.75/yr.

from www.elections.ca:
"Registered political parties that receive at least two percent of the number of valid votes cast nationally, or five percent of the number of valid votes cast in the electoral districts in which the registered party endorsed a candidate, will be eligible for a quarterly allowance which, on the basis of a full year, will amount to $1.75 per valid vote received by the party in the previous general election."

A New Brunswicker, a Quebecer, and a Newfie were walking down the road together and they bumped into a lantern with a genie inside.

Out pops the genie and he says, "I will grant you one wish each.Who wants to go first?" The New Brunswicker says, "Me, I want to go first." So the genie replies, "Ok, what is your wish?" The New Brunswicker said, "My wish is to have a 2-lane highway across New Brunswick, smooth as a baby's arse!" The genie said, "Poof! There you go. A highway as smooth as a baby's arse!"

The Quebecer pipes up and says, "Well I am going next! Genie, I want a 20-foot wall around the border of Quebec to keep all the damn Englishmen out!" Genie, "Poof! There's your 20-foot wall.

Now Newfie, it is your turn. What do you want?" The Newfie looks at the genie and asks, "Genie, is that wall you just put around Quebec waterproof? Genie replies, "Yep!" Newfie, "Filler up!"

From all reports I've heard, it looks like the Reform, er, the Conservatives will be swept into ppwer come Monday. Now, I'm not sure whether this is a good thing or a bad thing. (I went to Uni in Canada when Kim Campbell was PM and they got thrashed by the Liberals...who'd have thought that the PCs would take their Think Twice slogan literally?!) I will say that a friend of mine living in Ottawa has said that at least if the Conservatives came in to power, then at least Québec will be independent sooner, like within 5 years.

Did I mention that she's an out-and-out separatist?

Actually the only hosers or idiots or morons or any bad name you can think of are people who have the opportunity to voice themselves by voting , and fail to go to the polls and vote.
Congrats to all the voting Canadians
for being heard.
Now I'll go back to making fun of Canadians. 😀
