Do you live a carbon neutral life?

Or do you believe like me that Carbon Offset Schemes are a bit like donating to the NSPCC whilst abusing children!

Carbon offsetting just allows rich people to feel less guilty about the damage they are doing to the environment?

The UK government plans to make all new homes 'zero carbon' homes by 2016. What on earth is a zero carbon home? Surely any house in the UK will need heating and electricity, provided by coal-fired power stations, therefore putting carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Is this just another government spin term?

In order to make the home totally carbon neutral it is vital that the occupants aren't breathing, which rather neatly solves the problem of carbon emissions due to heating and electricity too.

If rich people were living a carbon neutral lifestyle they wouldn't be damaging the environment with carbon dioxide emissions. So I don't see a problem with it.
They may well of course be damaging it in other ways.
You should only consider the net effect when you consider your CO2 emissions.

There are numerous ways to make houses use less energy to heat them.
Many houses are not well insulated, ect.
I think the way they could do this is by designing houses in such a way as that it faces the sun when it raises in the morning, so it heats up; and having things like solar panels that heat up your water for you. This would at least cut down the amount of CO2 houses create.

Perhaps they will plant trees to make up for the rest? 😕

Carbon is the fifth most abundant

by stars who kill
themselves.

I doubt it. Nor do I think what we do matters.
