post modernism is an emancipation from the enlightenment (cartesiam dualism etc) through philosphy rooted in the works of Nietzche and Heidgger with some existencialism from Satre thrown in for good measure. a contemporary example of a post modern philosopher is Miochel Foucault. A book or books could be writen on post modernism, so lets stop there.

As a result of this philosophy, western culture is now a post modern one with post modern beliefs and a fragmentation of thought.

Society/culture represents itself to itself through a dialectic that stems from a contemporary philosophy, the contemporary philosophy within this era of history is post modernism, which effects our cultural views on religion, politics (see Foucault) and social dynamics.

Pre-dating postmodern philosophy, we have postmodern art, which has had a huge cultural influence, as does any well known art form.

Our culture is influenced by the works of our philosophers* (they have almost become secular prophets) and artists and it conforms to these cultural ground breakers and joins them in their emancipation of the cuurent culture and joins them in their new era, in this case, a post modern culture.

*Marx is the best example of the impact of philosophical works and Nietzsche another.

Western hegemony is not equivalent to a nation state.

Be more careful in the words you use.
It is truly amusing to see people whose beliefs have been challenged revert to symantics.

In other words as we're on the way to emancipation from soley dualistic concepts (the emancipation of which was instigated by postmodern philosophy) we are surely over sophisticated or should be for something as basic as cartesian distraction

I urge you to read 'Intellectual Impostures' by Alan Sokal and Jean Bricmont. You are in the terminal phase of postmodernitis, and you need help quickly.

I'll try and check it out, BUT I'm not a post modernist
