Nation states use cartesian distration 'Them and us' to distract its homogenous people form the nation states political misdemeanours.

And it works, if you rerad the papers, watch the news or even just flick through the threads in the debate forum on RHP. its all about the West vs fundamentalism. Fundamentalist views are highligted by the wheels of power to distract from their own errors.

If you want to change the world start with yourself, then your nation state before you address other ideologies.

Yes terroism is wrong, but how does western hegemony contribute to that and how can we focus more on governmental wrongs without allowing them to distract us with fundamentalist wrongs?

Western hegemony is not equivalent to a nation state.

Be more careful in the words you use.

Ironically enough the "West" is very fundamentalist in it's views as well...

Isn't that if your government admitted to being imperialistic and fundamentalist that people might start to question their motives?

Of course they cant admit it, that is if they want to stay in power, which they do. So they cause a distraction, dont look at us look at them, its a common phenomena amongst all walks of like ie a child pointing out a siblings wrong doings to deter from their own.

I absolutely agree with you there, but I don't think the binary oppositions the nation-state uses are just a distraction - they're integral to its existence: if you have to have citizens, centrally-defined, then logically you must also have non-, or even un-citizens, centrally-defined...a nation-state constructs artificial borderlines everywhere.

I know, so maybe we should address a new social existence other than a nation state and the jingoistic seperatism that comes with it

Humans seem to quite like nation states.
