What is, in your opinion, the best Chat Program.

Please tell us (eh... Genius and me, I guess๐Ÿ™‚) as well which others you have used and how you think about them.

if you're Dutch.

ICQ lite is quite good. you don't have to install anything.

Using ICQ, can you chat with people that have MSN Messenger?

No.
But there is a program which does allow multi-system chatting.
I don't know the name, but it does exist.

I use yahoo messenger, which seems ok - but I only chat to people who have that.

trillian (http://www.trillian.cc) seems to be the program that integrates with all the other chat programs in existence, but I haven't tried it.

I've used Trillian as well, you can sign in with multiple accounts on multiple servers, MSN, Yahoo, ICQ and one other...

It was OK, but it wasn't very stable and I didn't like the looks...

I also use yahoo, MSN's just useful for making smileys.
Yahoo works nicely for voice and video.

Bit off topic, Trillian is a pretty funny name for this cross-app messanger. Isn't that the name of the female who hangs with Zaphod in The Hitch Hikers Guide To The Galaxy?

Yes.

Trillion is the program which integrates various chat programs.

And yes Trillion is in the Hitch Hikers guide to the galaxy. As is I, for I am a member of such a clan!

And may the dolphin's swim to help me, should I be mixed up on the name...

I use MSN, mostly because my mates do, but it's also useful if you're on the net playing RHP for long stretches of time. MSN provides a little popup whenever you recieve an email, which enables you to know when someone has moved in an RHP game. Other programs may do this too, I haven't really used anything else.
