First. There is a reason the Constitution grants control of the miltary to civilians.

Second. You have a lot of names on there that have nothing to do with sending the military to fight. 2 from SCOTUS? State Governors? Mayor? I'm sure there's a republican working at a gas station somewhere, should ask him if he served, then post the answer?

Excellent debate.

There's the Merk extreme skepticism again. Attack others' evidence backed claims but offer nothing of your own.

Evidence? Evidence that a dead SCOTUS justice didn't serve in the military? A former mayor didn't serve in the military? A couple of governors didn't serve in the military?

Civilian leadership of the military is there for a reason. To make sure the military serves the interests of the government (people) not the interests of the military itself. The separation from the military is desireable, not the other way around.
Now, SECDEF is another issue with regards to not serving.

Evidence that the Democractic Party has a far higher proportion of battle tested veterans than the Republican Party and therefore might be expected to know a bit more about real military matters.

So...you think it's better to have non veterans than veterans in politics?

I think it doesn't matter if we are talking about in politics. War is only one part of politics. Expertise in one area of politics does not make a person a better politician than someone with expertise in another area.

That's why I am saying so what if one party has more veterans than another. It in no way makes that party superior to any other.

off topic, but another fine debate that proves that two monster political parties are splitting america apart...
before long, there will be civil war over whether abortion should be legal (which it shouldnt, but that's another thread all together)

This list of course tries to make the donks have more veterans claim without mentioning the well known fact that the majority of military personnel vote Republican.

But that won't stop the moonbats on this site from parading this silly list all around the left-o-sphere.
