Such a pity Duchess isn’t here anymore.
From the Beeb:
A sprawling network of more than 350 fake social media profiles is pushing pro-China narratives and attempting to discredit those seen as opponents of China's government, according to a new study.
The aim is to delegitimise the West and boost China's influence and image overseas, the report by the Centre for Information Resilience (CIR) suggests.
The study, shared with the BBC, found that the network of fake profiles circulated garish cartoons depicting, among others, exiled Chinese tycoon Guo Wengui, an outspoken critic of China.
I once accused (well… not just once) Duchess of being a 50 center (employed by the Chinese government to combat anti-Chinese sentiments on the internet), because she used language and mthods right out of the scripts they use (see the wiki link).
But this new report shows that it’s not only paid people doing this (see BBC links).
Putting it altogether, what you see is that if, for example, information pops up online about Chinese abuse of democracy in Hong Kong, fake acounts, online influencers, message board trolls, etc. jump into action changing the subject, pointing towards US fake information and behaviour and generally defending Chinese interests by talking about other countries’ abuses instead.
Very interesting.
Now, with this in mind: how many anti-vax threads are there on this forum?
How many threads which question US right-wing attitudes and policies are instantly swamped with pro-right-wing posts attacking liberals, the left and diverting the context of the thread to other matters?
All by a handful of individuals?
Is the US (or US alt-right) employing similar tactics as the Chinese?
I have, in multiple threads, commented on the amount of alt-right wingers of US heritage on a chess forum. Maybe it’s not such a coincidence?
Without wanting to get paranoid about it all, if centralized messages (coordinated or not) are repeatedly being spread on the forum, hasn’t the forum essentially died?

@athousandyoung saidTrump loyalists, like the ones who assaulted the Capitol.
The right winger nuts here are indirect propaganda, not direct like the Chinese ones. They've been programmed by Fox News and their social circles and they are simply repeating what they've been told. They are programmed zombies not active propagandists.
@athousandyoung saidI think that’s what we are supposed to believe but the idea that they actually sincerely believe the crap they come out with is untenable.

Clearly they are not government sponsored but I wouldn’t rule out sponsorship from a slush fund provided by the likes of the NRA and other big corporations who prefer right wing low taxation, pro gun and evangelical Republican / ‘’moderate’ Democrat governments, you know, the actual US government.
@kevcvs57 saidMost of the rightist zealots on this site are just unwilling to admit that they've been conned by a born publicity hog that snorted his way onto a reality-TV show and then the presidency.

As to the question of better dead or Duchess?
- It's been a pleasure reading the tombstones.
@woofwoof saidYour more generous than me, I see the Trump presidency coming out of the Tea Party movement which itself ( at least in part )was a reaction to a black President. It was the that section of the Republican base that effortlessly morphed into the Trump base and when Trump is gone they will find another white wannabe dictator to hang their anger and resentment on.

I agree they have been duped into thinking their enemies in the form of rich powerful people are their friends and that poor black people are their enemies but that’s been going on for centuries, but they know exactly what Trump is just as he knows exactly what they want in a President.
@athousandyoung saidBut we are not dependent group people who are easily offended, i like our way better.

I have never used the word offended, and i have never been in a street before. I couldn’t qualify as a lib.
@kevcvs57 saidRave on, but tell me, are you actually anti-gun? Like if you have a family, living in a Dem controlled state, you know the states, you would not have gun for protection. ??
