Not to be a kill joy but how does everyone view Christmas? It seems that the holiday is built up to such a degree that if, for whatever reason, things are not going our way the season tends to cause us to become depressed. For example, a loss of a loved one or hard economic times, loneliness etc, can lead to a great deal of depression or even suicide. In addition, odds are that we will have more than one Christmas season not go our way for the reasons provided. At times, life inevitably throws us a curve ball or two. So should we have such high expectations for one day out of the year? Is it counterproductive on the whole?

Christmas is shallow as hell and those who celebrate it in the absence
of children should be taken outside and shot!
edit. With the exception of Christians of course who should be burnt.

misguided of them all.
I celebrate every day, I celebrate the mysteries of the universe and
what it is to be alive. Not like Christians who prefer to think they
own the mysteries and celebrate death.
That's right buddy, you're in a cult of death only you're too happy
clapped to care.
Originally posted by Thequ1ckWell of course there is the religious aspect to Christmas, however, as we both know this is usually not the focus of Christmas. The focus of the holidays is usually family/friends and the exchange of gifts between them. Are you saying that without children you would forsake the the tradition of family/friends and gift exchanges?

Originally posted by Thequ1ckWow, you seem angry that God doesn't reveal Himself to you. What a pity. It is because of God that you are able to celebrate every day, and be in awe of the universe that He created and that we Christians shall inherit; it's not too late for you put a down payment on eternity, but if you don't, you will have free room and board in the realm of satan. I don't prophy this; the Bible speaks clearly about those who refuse to accept jesus as savior and their lot in the hereafter. Christians don't own any mysteries; we don't even claim to understand them. We don't even seek to understand the mysteries because Jesus stated that what we see now is a cloudy mirror, but soon we will see all things as clearly as crystal. We simply trust Jesus to show us the answers someday. We don't ce;ebrate death; it is anathema to Christians and God's teachings, except where non-believers are concerned therefore, it is nonbelievers who celebrate the mysteries of death and, therefore, are the true the cult of death.
