Hey Bosse, why don't you and I plan on hitting Brooklyn when it's 20 feet underwater in 20 years?

Maybe the photo editors should have included several rusty SUVs floating around in the water to get their point across?

Give it up -- this whole notion of "imminent catastrophe" or "a world imperiled" has been oversold. Bjorn Lomborg and even the IPCC have said that at worst, there may be only a 1 foot rise in water by the end of the century:

There's a lesson here - manipulating people with advertising is dangerous for society.
Global warming is going to wreck up the biosphere in the long term, which is why we need to be looking at making it economically viable for people to lower their emissions. If greener technologies become cheaper, then developing countries like China/India will reduce their emissions because the technology will be made more available.

On the other hand heres an article from wiki news about polar ice cap melting that I had not thought had gotten this serious.........

http://en.wikinews.org/wiki/Arctic_ice_levels_at_record_low_opening_Northwest_Passage
A small excerpt:-
16/11/07
"According to the European Space Agency (ESA), 200 satellite images from the Danish National Space Center (DNSC) indicate that the Arctic ice levels are at an all time low, since the first images taken in 1978, and as a result the Northwest Passage has completely opened up for the first time since humans began to record history. The images have shown the melting of the ice has "dramatically increased" more than previously thought and that by 2030, all of the summer ice could be gone with the region being completely ice free by 2070. ."

Are you buying up land in Nevada in anticipation of the Andreas fault giving you some more?

No, and I'll tell you why: Your side has done nothing to convince me that the world is in peril or that man is the cause. Moreover, your leaders have oversold this and declared any opinion to the contrary as heresy. Face it, if Al Gore didn't have his daddy's name, he'd be some sleazy televangelist preacher you'd tune in to late at night when you can't sleep.

As a corollary, even real scientists can't agree on this stuff:

"Milloy acknowledged that his survey, which received responses from only 54 of the 345 American members of the several thousand-member IPCC, is "a little small for a reliable sample," but added, "I'm surprised ... I got that many responses from them."

While the survey's size was small, Milloy said, "I certainly think that it's large enough to indicate that the IPCC members really ought to be probed as to what they think."
"

IPCC members have been probed as to what they think, it was provided in all those new scientist links I provided you and macswain et al which not a single one of you ever answered. While the link is getting old, the arguments are still relevant.

Once more, you harp on about Al Gore, I fully agree he's a hack, always have, never disagreed with you there, but seriously, quit the bull$h1t artist stuff. You haven't been convinced by our evidence because you've never looked at it, unless it was through the distorted lens of your politically motivated websites. Try out a scientific one, for possibly the 20th time I've posted it...

http://environment.newscientist.com/channel/earth/dn11462

And the more up to date...
http://environment.newscientist.com/channel/earth/climate-change/

And before you claim that I'm feeding you propoganda, one of new scientists own editors is a climate change sceptic, though for very different reasons to you.

If Global Climate Change Warming was a stock, I would say it's overbought and consider buying some LEAP puts. After I cashed those in I would would short Global Warming shares all the way down to the single digits.

Edit: But alas, polotics is not a capital market. All I can do is watch the volatility and have no way to profit from it. 🙁
