I say legalize marijuana and tax it. It is less of an evil than alcohol in my opinion. We cannot legalize cocaine, meth, heroin, etc. because they are too addicting. The European experiment has not convince me that heroin and other hard drugs should be legalized.
The European experiment?

Legalize every drug and tax it. Including meth and heroin and cocaine.
People have the absolute right to take whatever they want into their bodies.
And laws trying to stop it have never worked, as we clearly see today.
With two provisos:
1. Drugs are not supplied to users at tax-payer expense.
2. So as not to monetarily burden society, taxes from drug sales be kept sacrosanct from politicians and used exclusively for medical treatment of those who destroy themselves.

Point being - taking all drugs you like is now legal and not a problem. Therefore, no rehab from a perfectly acceptable activity is needed.
Medical treatment I mentioned isn't for addicts - - addicts wouldn't be considered 'bad' in this new society.
The medical service I visualise is ONLY for those who have 'blown their minds' and taken themselves to vegatable state and unable to care for themsleves at all - - Whose care would then be provided for by the drug tax. These individuals would not recognize the difference between 5 star vs no star! They would be in more of an 'institution.'
