🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 That's how people die. Being in the wrong place. It took a PHD to figure that out?

Well how do people die then? They are at the right place at the wrong time correct? I think you are a reincarnation of STANG.

I would prefer most people to die of old age - not of being carpet bombed.

There are many ways to kill people if it's absolutely necessary. What I do not think is necessary is indisminate killing and maiming, such as that done by Cluster bombs. This is why anti-personel mines where so strongly objected to.

I personally like the claymore anti personnel mine. It was a great equalizer when you are on patrol behind enemy lines and you set up for the night. Just one push of the clacker and you have a wall of ball bearings ripping into the enemy.

And would you condone setting a few of those bad boys up in civilian areas?

Well lets see. I'm behind enemy lines with no immediate help or air support and I'm hiding in a building in a town painting targets with a laser to ensure precision bombimg and some Hezbollah clowns come up to my hide site and discover me. Yes I will pull the pin and sod the SOB's as my British mates were fond of saying. Now if you are asking if I would set them up to where they would explode by a trip wire in a civilian area? No. Nobody wants to kill a civilian on purpose. Sadly though civilians do die in combat.

Okay, so in a round about way, you are saying you would not willingly use a weapon that is indiscriminate in it's action in a civilian area. Now, anybody which willingly and knowingly uses a weapon which targets indiscriminately in a civilian area could not be said to be a good person, right?

I'm saying that in the event of you protecting yourself that sometimes innocents get killed in combat. It's a sad fact but It's true.

Fine. Absolutely. I agree.

I just cannot see how Israel can justify the targeting of civilians with weapons as horrific as cluster bombs as "self defence".

Well if Hezbollah wouldn't use civilians as shields then this conversation wouldn't be happening. Just like the previous example of not using the Claymore mine except for protection. If Israel didn't use the bombs then their soldiers would have been at risk.

Its not about not using bombs. There are sometimes, loath as I am to admit it, that bombs are the way to go. Its about the difference between tactical strikes, using precision bombs, and carpet bombing civilian areas.

The trouble is that there were no civilian areas. Hezbollah hid among the populace thus casing a majority of the civilian casualties.
