"It is still unclear what caused the explosion, with American officials saying they believe it was probably an accident, perhaps because of Iran’s inexperience with a volatile, dangerous technology. Iran declared it an accident, but subsequent discussions of the episode in the Iranian news media have referred to the chief of Iran’s missile program as one of the “martyrs” killed in the huge explosion. Some Iranian officials have talked of sabotage, but it is unclear whether that is based on evidence or surmise after several years in which Iranian nuclear scientists have been assassinated on Tehran’s streets, and a highly sophisticated computer worm has attacked its main uranium production facility."

A computer worm, assassinations of scientists, possible sabotage, and drone overflights.

Sounds like a cold war to me. But with US-Pakistani relations deteriorating, is this the best time to be pushing Iran and Pakistan into an "enemy-of-my-enemy" alliance?

Yes.
I see no reason why the mad Americans should have nuclear weapons and the mad Iranians shouldn't.

It's it's possible to stop Iran from getting nuclear weapons through covert operations and sabotage rather than through open attacks, that is certainly the best way to do it. The computer worm, which has the added benefit of not hurting anybody, was exceptionally brilliant.

Not brilliant. Just another stage on the path to everyone being able to attack IT systems remotely and cause all sorts of stuff. I already this suspect this has been happening in some of my chess games on this site. I'm watching!

Brilliant would be to do it without everyone knowing what you did and how you did it - maybe. But that would probably still not be exceptional.

China and Russia are already very sophisticated at attacking computer systems from afar.

Is it clear that Iran has a nuclear weapons program at all?

On one hand, they would be stupid not to pursue one given how our government likes to invade countries like they are trying to best the Nazis. On the other hand, they would probably not be successful before being invaded so why try?

It has been suggested that Israel is just paranoid because they built a nuclear weapons facility under one of their nuclear power reactors and are merely acting on suspicion alone. If you did that you might think another country would too.

Do you think valid intelligence information exists that indicates Iran has a nuclear weapons program or is it just collective psychological projection?

How many countries has America attacked the last 50 years?
How many countries has Iran attacked the last 50 years?
And now the Iranians are shooting down US spy drones...

If I was a mad Iranian regime, I'd be arming myself to the teeth with anything, nuclear, chemical or what, as well. Who can blame them??
