I think it is obvious what redmike's first name is, and that he is a communist from Glasgow, but he explicitly states that he wasn't the bloke on radio4, but that IF he was him it would breach the ToS.
edit: redmike already answered above
Redmike, what do you think of this proposition:
I have a problem with democracy, in that the elected officials get there because, like the bushwhacker, they are totally owned. So my fix:
Scrap democracy, institute instead a lottery. If more than one gets selected, have another lottery where one is chosen out of all the prelim's but by chance, choose straws, have a mudwrestling match, guess a number, something like that. That way, at least at the start, the elected official would statistically be normal, with an IQ of 100 or so, which you can't say for you know who. Then that official should wear a webcam so every conversation, everything he or she reads or writes will be recorded so no aswipe lobbiest can get to him. What do you think?

I know many people who play chess who include a first name in their pseudonyn which is not there own - when I first joined rhp I considered using the name esra ymssik, for instance (as in the film Amadeus)

I don't really think so, but it depends how you define 'better'.

While I agree that the majority of people from the US are reasonably decent people, you only have to look at some of the posts here to see how little understanding of the world some US citizens have (I'm thinking, for example, of gems like 'I don't care who Sudan is'π.
I'm sure there are people in other countries with a similar lack of knowledge - my 12-year old son got into trouble at school for laughing at his class-mates appalling geographical knowledge.
My issue isn't with the decency or good intentions of americans, more the lack of understanding of the rest of the world some exhibit. This in turn makes such people easy to manipulate.
GWB, even taking account of the low turn-out and dubious electoral practises, still represents a sizeable constituency in the US. Whether we like it or not.
