Wow , what a great stride forward for American civil rights this would be , a woman with a solid chance for the Oval Office . Maybe there could be an all African American ticket someday .

Powell is African-American. i'd have voted for him over Bush, but he didn't run. i think the news reports at the time said his wife didn't want him to run (due to possibility of assassination? or increased workload? the campaign trail sounds really rough.).

a manager where i used to work had a great series of slides posted, re a leadership presentation by Gen. Powell. i think it might the one posted here, but i don't have powerpoint on my home computer:

Maybe my humor was a little too obtuse . I know Powell is African-American . I was trying to point out that neither he nor Condi represent anything considered to be the standard for what the majority of African-American's agenda is ; to the point that many Af-Am's don't even consider them as "black" anymore .

LOL, MC. Maybe Condi and Colin will learn some catchy campaign rap before 2008.

(i missed your humor) ... i've heard that before, but it sounds racist ... i wonder if there is any poll data out there (including for "majority ... agenda ..."😉 ...

Seems like one of the black leaders (Sharpton, Jackson etc.) called Condi an Aunt Jemina and Powell an Uncle Tom when she was nominated to replace him.

i googled it, it was Harry Belafonte about Colin and some DJ about Condi ...

http://www.alternet.org/columnists/story/20579/
"Powell and Rice's assailants believe that all blacks are inherently, or should be inherently hostile, to Bush administration policies. This is political fantasy. More than 2 million blacks voted for Bush in the presidential election. That was a significant bump up from the black vote total he got in 2000. In the crucial battleground state of Ohio, that ultimately sealed the White House for him, blacks gave him nearly a quarter of their vote. The great untold story of campaign 2004 was that those estimated 90,000 votes gave him the cushion he needed for re-election."

Thanks, Z. Belafonte does ring a bell now that you mention it. The DJ doesn't ring a bell at all but I remember the Aunt Jemima being bandied about by secondary sources.

If African Americans dont consider Powel and Rice to be black enough then that points out a truly grevious flaw in the African American Psyche.

So you are on Belafonte's side? Him a member of the Stalin elite of the fifties and sixties? Who to this day has never renounced a single commie? That Belafonte?

My vote would definitely be for Rice over Clinton.

Well what a shocker🙂 you, vote for a republican over a dem?
who woulda thunk it🙂 Why was Felabonte even brought up?
surely nobody would be considering him a viable candidate?
I think if Condo and whats his name run, there would be
plenty of afroamerican recognition, no doubt about that.
But if it led to a black vs white thing, the whites would win
via numerical superiority, if they got off their lazy a$$es, left the
trailer park and the TV, put down the beer keg and actually think
about the issues and vote. That would be the real miracle.

The actual reason might surprise you. I view it as "voting for an adult in lieu of voting for a greedy child".

That is a hundred threads ago though and consists of the simple observation that Dems don't think. They "feel".

Have you noticed that only one US Senator has put forth a bill this session of congress to solve the problems that they harp on? What's his name? With the idea to solve the Social Security shortage?

Anyway... it's a fact. They don't dare have "ideas". They are too dangerous. It's much better to just block the adults from doing anything.

"Condi 2008" sounds like a really crappy bargain-basement vacuum cleaner you'd buy for a disliked uncle on an occasion you'd have been better off not remembering in the first place.
