Court of Cassation upholds ruling that Kobili Traore can’t be held criminally responsible for Sarah Halimi’s killing as he was in a psychotic state from marijuana use

France’s highest court on Wednesday found that the killer of a Jewish woman was not criminally responsible and could not go on trial, provoking anger from anti-racism groups who say the verdict puts Jews at risk.

Sarah Halimi, an Orthodox Jewish woman in her sixties, died in 2017 after being pushed out of the window of her Paris flat by neighbor Kobili Traore, who shouted “Allahu Akbar” (“God is great” in Arabic).

As someone who has smoked weed a number of times, I can say with full assurance that weed doesn't make you "psychotic". If you plan you to even get up and leave the house, you're wasting your weed. Let alone go out to commit murder.

Mostly right.

I have always smoked weed but twice I was so gone I didn't understand reality.
The first time I couldn't move or understand anything about what I was or where I was.
The second time I was in a big city and the overhead wires made me think the city had a massive spider problem.

And I smoke weed.

In this case it could have been his first time smoking or it was laced with something.
I disagree with the verdict but weed is not as harmless as most people think.

Well I read about it...
He was a heavy weed smoker.

So this just comes down to society feeling good because they side with the criminal as long as he isn't white.

One implication is that France considers marijuana to be a substance which forces users to commit murder which is NOT TRUE. Not cool, man.

You have to give everyone the same guidelines and sentences.
