In the US we have seen about 3k covid deaths for our population below 30. Is this number of deaths enough of a reason to shut down beaches where kids can get out and enjoy life while getting some exercise in the process?

@Eladar
YES because of the variants mutating at a terrific rate.
Covid is out to get us and is succeeding. AND BTW, the new variants don't give a rats ass how old you are. TEN year old's are dying now.
Too bad we can't gag your sorry ass so you will stop acting as Trumps agent of misinformation.
Go on, tell me again how C19 is just another flu.
@sonhouse saidTen year olds died with the original strain. Ten year olds can die from chickenpox.

Just how many 10 year olds and under are dying now?
@eladar saidYou continue to pump out endless threads and posts for your narratives.

What is your purpose ?
@eladar saidIt was when we knew very little about it.
I am asking a question. Is a lockdown the morally correct thing to do for those under 30?
We're not locked down now.
You're going on about vaccination now in other threads.
And what has morality got to do with a response ?
What is behind your opposition to our general response to a pandemic that has killed 4 million people ?
@mghrn55 saidI certainly hope that we do not try to go through a lock-down again.

I think the CDC always knew that covid would only be an issue for the elderly since they said the lock-down was an attempt to help the elderly.
The fact is that we should not have prevented the spread of the virus among the young and concentrated on isolating the elderly from the virus.
Masks and covid testing for the elderly and for those who will be interacting with them. Of course we should not have allowed recovering covid patients into retirement homes.
@Eladar
But you are WAY ok with Trump COMPLETELY downplaying the pandemic. Or do you dispute THAT also? Do I have to produce all the Trump video's showing his disdain for the pandemic, and that even though he was told in JAN of 2019 it was a deadly disease, but instead he goes on TV and BULLSHYTES It will be all over by Memorial day and such, ingest bleach, will KILL that nasty virus.
What do you think about him getting the shots but keeping it secret? You figure that is ok in a president?
@eladar saidWhich beaches have shut down?

The answer to your question is no, of course. Not only because there's a vaccine available and people are perfectly capable of making their own risk assessment, but (especially) because COVID doesn't generally spread much outdoors and in hot weather, two characteristics that most beaches share.

Thankfully, almost nobody shares this extreme view and so, save perhaps for a few crazies in LA and SF, outdoor shutdowns are a thing of the past.
@sh76 saidCalifornia shut down beaches.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Friday closed all beaches in Orange County after thousands flocked to the coast amid the ongoing global pandemic. The move came as pressure has been mounting on officials to reopen some business in the state. Los Angeles Times reporter Phil Willon joins Karina Mitchell for more on the state's lockdown, Newsom's decree and the public's response.
