If you're referring to people like Kelvin and Watt it's because the British Empire managed to wrest control of the Americas from Spain...several centuries after Gutenberg adapted Chinese printing technology to Western languages in Germany. Otherwise I have no idea what you're talking about with respect to "Scottish scientifically accomplished people".

Really? Thanks for helping me make my case. They are still disadvantaged because of their writing system. If it is that bad now, just think how bad it was when everything was printed on paper.

I know, because that was before books were mass produced. Europeans had to write by hand before then too. Mass producing books at a low cost changed all of that. You don't seem to want to give credit to books for increasing technological innovation. Why not?
