That crap city is so PRO-crime it is head-shaking.
The charges against Diarra for defending himself against an attacker come after a similar incident last year. In July, Manhattan bodega clerk Jose Alba was charged with murder after a confrontation in the store with an angry customer who attacked him behind his counter. Alba stabbed and killed the attacker in self-defense but found himself at the Rikers Island jail charged with murder.

And I doubt Bragg knew anything about the case where charges were filed on an early Saturday morning. The police are the ones who decide on the initial charges after an arrest though one of Manhattan's 500 or so assistant District Attorneys might have been in court on the weekend for the defendants' appearance.

Cases that have been dismissed or dropped or acquitted still show up on background checks and that could seriously hinder future employment or the like.
You would think the police would investigate before making any arrests, especially when video evidence is involved. You can hold someone for a time before you have to charge or let go. This pro criminal mindset is destroying cities but they get what they vote for and the only way those cities will change is by hitting rock bottom first.

Every would be murderer or assaulter could simply claim self-defense and be allowed free until a more thorough investigation was done by that standard.
