I vote each issue (more or less funding for the military, gay marriage yes or no, higher taxes to fund schools but lower taxes for families, etc. etc.) on its own merits. That makes me leftish on some issues and rightish on others.
As for parties, when the conservatives are in power, I vote green; when the greens are in power, I vote conservative. Not because of their respective policies, but because democracy functions only when there is a functional opposition. Single-party states invariably lurch towards tyranny.

On a second thought, maybe we should all just agree that categorizing people on a single scale from left to right is oversimplification at best, and in many cases misleading or even deliberately deceptive.
