To avoid responsibility at all costs. For some, not being responsible is an end that justifies any means.
Ok, I agree that abortion should not become simply a form of contraception.
An unplanned pregnancy though, (yes, it happens sometimes when you use contraception too) is nonetheless an unplanned pregnancy. "Taking responsibility" for ones actions presumes that they were irresponsible in some way in the past to have become pregnant.
The unfortunate thing is that in order to become pregnant without meaning to, you don't need to be irresponsible.
Also, what of underage sex, where legally they cannot be held responsible in any case?
Don't think for a second that an abortion is a decision that is taken lightly.
I think that to claim it is an escape for the irresponsible is really rather condescending, there are good points against it, but that it is a form of escapism is not one of them.

I don't believe a person should do it.
But if we illegalize it, people will still do it with horrible means.
Anyone have a coat hanger? 😕
