In any case, even if Trump had declared martial law, it would not have extended his term of office. He will no longer be the president of anything but his own delusions at noon on 20th January, come hell or high water.
if something would have happened to Pence or even a democrat senator/representative, would you think he would have hesitated to declare martial law?
