Call it too much of a good thing. The rapid growth of U.S. non profits—revenues in the sector went from $678 billion in 1994 to $1.4 trillion in 2004—has brought with it a decline in ethical standards. That’s the finding of the Ethics Resource Center’s latest national survey of workers:

Perhaps people should stop giving money to self-appointed/self-righteous/unaccountable organizations like GreenPeace, ACORN, PETA, HSUS, Planned Parenthood, etc.?

Besides, they're only as corrupt as their private sector counterparts...
"Indeed, observations of fraud, including doctored financial records and lying to stakeholders, are now about as prevalent in nonprofits (with 55% of respondents saying they’ve seen examples) as they are in the for-profit (56% ) and public (57% ) sectors."
But honestly, is this a good way of determining who's corrupt? Just going around asking people: "hey, you seen any corruption lately?"

Is that difference significative or not in your opinion?

I guess it helps them massage thewir consciences ....

Good works? Do you mean like raising the cost of doing business or on goods and services, and instituting a Tort Tax on all Americans?
Good god, though. They collect taxes?? really?? 🙄

But if we're gonna use this flawed survey, we might as well see how Non-Profits stack up to other buisiness models. and it turns out that they do 1% better. Disappointing? Yes. But nothing worth writing home about.
Do you feel guilty for working within a business model that has a 56% corruption survey rate?

Tort Tax: America's tort system costs over $200 billion annually, or over 2% of gross domestic product -- more than in any other developed nation.

From Wiki: Planned Parenthood receives almost a third of its money in government grants and contracts ($305.3 million in FY 2006).
