Okay, not literally the borg as on star trek, but the concept is very similar.

I don't think people realize how much technology has been advancing lately. DARPA is probably working on stuff that would blow your mind. And how much do you really know about Musk? Did you know he had hair transplants done?

@metal-brain saidJoe Biden did too. And worse, someone here has a hair bun, and a tattoo, and body piercings all around. Bunch of Borgs. These forum creatures could make up the Star Wars bar scene!

You crackers.
What do you think the most likely next step is in human evolution?
Cybering up.
Implants, augmentation (I think that’s what they call it) and cybernetics (like limbs, eyes, etc.).
Two types. One is like lenses you put in (so, detachable, if you will) and the other is like an eye replacement (so, literally built in).
And not many people are missing this. Most news stations have reported on it in various ways and you see it all around you, every day.
Folks wearing glasses, contact lenses… hearing aids… replaceable limbs.
I know a girl with a muscle disorder. She’s got wires laced through her body (under her skin), so she can pulsate electricity through them to relieve the pain.
Think of cars. Drive a beetle from 1974 and then a Fiesta from 2022.
Lane control, adaptive cruise control, DAB, you heat the seat and the steering wheel with an app while you’re still in the house, powered steering, breaks that actually work, rearview mirror automatically dims, onboard computer, minute to minute road-works updates, tyre sensors, etc.
The only similarity is the form (steering wheel, doors and wheels). You could say modern cars are to old timers what the new humans (in 50 years) will be to us.
Typing a letter.
Typing an email.
Typing a message.
Using emojis.
Speaking the message.
Videoing the message.
Built in messenging device (which automatically connects to house, car, work).

And Elon Musk has very little to do with human enhancement. Cars, yes. Humans not so much. And he’s a complete nutter.
@shavixmir saidGenetic engineering, eugenics. Ethical misgivings be damned, people are experimenting with this already. At first, there will be fairly innocuous attempts to make people resistant to specific diseases or simply strengthen the immune system. But it won’t stop there. Somebody will try to isolate a ‘gay gene’ and selectively remove it or flip it (there isn’t one of course, but that won’t prevent certain people from trying to find it and flip it when they think they’re onto it).

I’m more worried about him being a tax dodging corporate demigod who is clearly trying to wrap his tentacles around social media for the purposes of advancing the political careers of politicians friendly to corporations and their tax dodging policies.
@kevcvs57 saidDid you know that about him before reading this thread?

Do you know how many children he has? Do you know about Grimes?
@metal-brain saidWhy would I care how many children he has or whether he has hair transplants? have you gone totally insane?

I certainly won't shed a tear if The Elon drops 40+ billion and runs twitter into the ground. Good riddance.
So far as I know, he has 10 children by 3 women. He is on record stating that people should make more babies -- because he needs a future workforce. Never mind that he just fired half of twitter's labor force ....
@moonbus saidWhat do y'all care about a Jan 6 trial or what Elon does with his company,,,,esp when is making it a better company, providing a service? I don't get the logic of that which you fellers feed on.
