If you were trying to be ironic, you couldn't do a better dead pan job.
The hotel maid who accused ex-IMF boss Dominique Strauss-Kahn of sexually assaulting her made an emotional public appeal on Thursday for people to believe her story as her lawyer threatened a civil lawsuit.

Boo Hoo... please believe me. I want a million dollars. Boo Hoo.
You just can't make this stuff up.
Edit:
"What happened to me, I don't want to happen to any other woman," she said. "I said, 'God, Why me?"'
Oh, Nancy Kerrigan, thou art reborn.

Thats a very harsh response coming from you no1marauder. Totally uncalled for.
Also, No1 knows that he totally jumped the gun on this case as he loves to rip me for doing and so he naturally doth protest too much.
No1 calling someone an a hole is like Hank Johnson calling someone a dimwit.

When did we become so sensitive about making fun of people in the news?
Genuine question, not a criticism.
On this board, we have people literally calling for the death or at least for severe harm to come to public figures all the time.
Are we supposed to be more sensitive here because she's not a public figure by choice; because she was just going about her own business until this incident?
Why is she entitled to any more sensitivity on this board than, say DSK himself? Yes, I might be laughing a little at the expense of a rape victim ("at the expense of" is more accuate than "at" ) and critics of DSK might be criticizing a slander victim.
Originally posted by sh76I haven't been calling for DSK's head or any of those things, either. It just feels that you're more involved emotionally in this case than normal, is it because of no1?

I also think one thing is to make an joke about it, which may be considered bad taste by many but I find it normal and potentially funny. Another is to find the victim's distress itself funny. Sure, you think it's bad acting, but still I would wait until the dust settles.
But who am I to pass judgement on such things? Nobody. I just didn't expect it. If you don't agree, then that's the end of it.

I will just leave it at that I understand your point and perhaps I should not have started this thread. I hope you'll believe me that I meant this thread more to make fun of the juxtaposition in the Reuters article (see the thread title) than I did to make fun of the alleged victim here.
