"Slavery" is to be called "involuntary relocation" in Texas schoolbooks. It's at the draft stage at this time; the Board of Education will have the final say.

The error of this idiotic circumlocution is patent when one considers that the children of those "involuntarily relocated" were born into slavery (and not relocated).

@moonbus saidwell, as we all know, republicans are fragile snowflakes. They need fairy tales to protect their fragile egos. Whether it's "America is number 1" or "God is real and blesses America" or "Wealth trickles down"

@zahlanzi saidI can go with "involuntary hereditary servitude for life" as a meaning-equivalent circumlocution for "slavery", but it's doubtful whether this is really preferable for a second grade schoolbook.

@moonbus saidneed more research on this but i read studies that, if it weren't for gerrymandering and voter suppression, Texas would be a purple state or even blue.
Well obviously there is simply nothing to debate and no one here willing support the Texas school district's proposal.
Texans can secede from the Union (again) and no one in the remaining 49 would miss them. Take Lance Armstrong with you when you go.
Nothing wrong with Texas per se. Republicans just are more competent staying in power
