I celebrate whenever someone who has taken the public trust and abused their power is exposed.

Did you celebrate, drink champagne, &c during the Larry Craig incident? How about when
Republican Illinois Governor George Ryan was convicted of corruption? What about Republican
Ohio Representative Bob Ney's confession and subsequent conviction?

I simply ...[text shortened]... n't remember your comment gleefully about any of those in this forum. Why is that?

Nemesio
George Ryan, the DP-moratorium governor?

(dances a jig.)

To be fair, did Spitzer really "abuse his power"? I haven't heard anything about him using public money for this. I mean, you don't have to be a governer to spend too much money on a hooker.

This thread seems to just be a bunch of guys saying "Hey it looks good on him!" As if he was a bad person who finally got what he deserved.

How so?

Why are you people happy? Do you enjoy watching the misery of other people? Is there nothing going on in your lives? Are you that out of touch with reality that you can't just ignore it and move on?

Why are you all so happy people found out he paid for sex????

Wackos, the lot of you! 😞
Surely even you must see the rich irony of a man who ruthlessly built his career prosecuting "victimless" crimes, now facing prosecution himself for complicity in a "victimless" crime?

No, you're confusing me with the Democrats who think there's nothing wrong with drowning a woman and fleeing the scene, running a gay-prostitution ring out of your townhouse, or shoving a cigar up a fat intern's pudenda and then lying about it while under oath.

I do see irony.

I don't see where any enjoyment can be derived from this.

How the hell did he ABUSE his power?

The man paid for sex. That's not an abuse of power. Better get your dictionary out.

I do however note, that many of you are republicans and spitzer is a democrat. Perhaps we see the real reason for your enjoyment.

"Hey everyone, look! A democrat in a scandal...YES YES YES!!!!"

Oh come now. Everyone knows what Ed Kennedy did was wrong. If they didn't, he'd have been elected president 28 years ago. But it was hard to pay attention to his crimes when the scandal broke because that crazy liberal media thought Watergate was more newsworthy. Ha! Can you believe the bias?

😀🙄

Wait a second. First of all, I believe prostitution should be legalized. I'm opposed to it morally,
mind you, but I think that moral regulation is not the province of the government (cf. Prohibition).

Second of all, I'm not a Republican by any stretch of the imagination. My first post was chastising
DSR for his blatant hypocrisy for rejoicing in a Democrat's public humiliation and not rejoicing
in similar situations over the past two years when it involved a Republican. Read my post.

Third of all, I consider it an abuse of power when a person uses their status to do illegal things,
and to do them with the expectation that they will get away with it. Clearly, Spitzer was
bald-faced about his frequenting prostitutes -- we're not talking about a one-time occasion
with some anonymous crack-whore, but big-dollar call girls. His public face was a tough-guy
attitude towards prostitutes, but his private face was one who solicited them. This is a betrayal
of public trust, a violation of the implicit terms of his office (to be a law-abiding citizen), and
a level of hypocrisy (given his hard stance on prostitution as Attorney General) showing a hubris
which astonishes even me.

You're right: to pay for sex is not an abuse of power. That's not my gripe. However, to build
a reputation in no small part on a platform of being anti-prostitution, and then to use that
office to solicit the finest prostitutes: that sure is an abuse of power.

There is no difference between a Democrat who think it's okay to run a prostitution ring and a
Republican who think it's okay to bribe lobbyists.

They and you are both hypocrites.

OK kids, I got asked the question yesterday by someone, "What is the difference between Spitzer and Clinton? Both broke the law and both were involved in a sexual scandel. Should Spitzer have a different fate that Clinton?

Edit: A good defense for Spitzer might be using the Clinton tactic by asking the judge, "Can you define prostitution?"
