@jj-adams saidNot quite. It's not about threatening to kill, it's mocking people who were killed. Still disgusting, but it's basically gang members mocking other gang members who were killed.
It's the latest form of rap, they hop around and threaten to kill each other.
It's pretty disgusting:

You said it's disgusting: we finally agree on something.
@jj-adams saidMore Republican fear of stuff they don't understand.

Like CRT and BLM, they don't get it, so they assume it's the work of the devil.
Can you just not be so freaking white?

@vivify saidCome on, it's like "tea-bagging" in PVP video games.

Stupid, but harmless.
@suzianne saidMocking real-life murders are not harmless. While insults (diss tracks) drive drill rap, threats to kill absolutely do come with the territory. And since these are gang members we're talking about, many of these may not be idle threats.

Does rap (or any violent music, like death metal) actually lead to violence? Like violent movies or videogames, usually no.
@suzianne said...until it happens to you personally, in which case it's an incel's rape fantasy, patriarchy gone mad, and evil misogyny.

No. It's always bad. "Even" if it happens to men.
And so is this kind of murder-worship. "Even" if it's done by African-Americans.

@vivify saidNo. I'm sorry if I can't get too worked up about gangs and gang members killing each other.

Maybe it will keep all that testosterone away from innocent people.

@suzianne saidThat's exactly the problem: it doesn't, and innocent bystanders do get caught in the crossfire. Literally.

Also, you blaming it on testosterone is exactly as evil as JJ blaming it on "culture". The real reason is the poverty trap, and you know it.
Plenty of people from other races are stuck in the poverty trap but they aren't in gangs in every city in America shooting each other while holding the gun sideways.
Only one race stands out for that.
Poverty is an influence but that is not an excuse for one group clearly participating in gang violence more than any other groups.
Ignoring traits within certain groups is just willful ignorance.
They glorify the life because their music presents it as something to aspire to is one example.
Rap is short for Crap.
